A Dream That Leads to the Next Episode
“So when is the next bus coming?"
“The next bus? When is it? Isn’t it coming soon?”
I couldn’t answer my wife’s sudden question as she stood next to me.
There are times when dreams pick up where they left off without any warning. Of course, if the time between the two dreams is short, I can handle it naturally in my dreams, but when I have to take over a dream that is quite old, even one that is almost a year old, and create the next story, even if it is a dream I made up, I need a certain amount of wit. Especially if there are characters in the dream, I have to be on my toes to make sure I don’t make a mistake.
This happened to me in a dream a few nights ago. I was having a dream in which several scenes were cutting in and out without any explanation, and suddenly I was summoned back to a dream that had been interrupted last year. And it wasn’t just me, it was my wife. At that moment, I think I was fully aware that the world in front of me was a dream, and that I could act as if it was just a dream, but that’s not what happens in a dream. My instinct is to stay awake.
‘Don’t panic, look around first. Figure out what we were doing.’
‘In times like this, act naturally.’
The bus is coming in the distance. We, as well as the people waiting, get ready to board the bus. After a few more words of conversation with my wife, I still had no idea where we were or where we were supposed to go on this bus. However, it was clear that what was approaching was not a city bus, nor was it an everyday space, judging by the way the people waiting with me were dressed and the words they were saying to each other. I wondered if I had walked into some sort of memorial or something, and maybe it was because the surroundings were unusually quiet compared to normal. However, I still don’t have any solid clues. Will all of this be revealed in the next episode?
