Winter Rain
It’s the warmest winter on record, but am I the only one who feels like it’s colder for some reason? By all objective measures, it must be warmer this year than it was last winter. Of course, given my recent state of mind, where I can’t even remember last week, it’s probably pointless to talk about what last winter was like…
I haven’t gone outside in days. The slightest breeze brings a headache with it. My wife says that the more I do this, the more I need to get out and exercise. But exercise is a luxury I can only afford before I get sick, and once the headache clock starts ticking, it’s a cosmic proposition that I can never get back.
It’s been raining on and off since last Monday. It’s like the rainy season, and it freezes people’s hearts. The fact that it’s raining instead of snowing in winter should be a sign of warmer weather, but strangely enough, I find snowy weather to be more cozy. As a rule of thumb, you can walk in snow, but you can’t walk in winter rain. Every time it rains, it’s always followed by a cold snap.
When the rain stops, a cold wave is said to come. Truly, this winter does not have the virtue of moderation. It’s like someone with a broken anger management system. No, come to think of it, I’ve been like that lately. If so, now is not the time for me to resent this rain.
